Letter for Parents and Caregivers

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Our class is excited to announce participation in Empatico, a free online tool that will help our class connect with classrooms around the world! We will be paired with a partner classroom, with whom we will communicate over live video chat and exchange photos and videos as we share our experiences and perspectives. Empatico is a great opportunity for your child to explore the world through experiences that spark curiosity, kindness, and empathy! You can learn more about Empatico at empatico.org.

Empatico takes student safety and privacy very seriously. Here are a few things Empatico does to ensure students' safety and privacy:

1) Empatico allows teachers to communicate with their partner teacher before their classrooms connect, so they can ensure that their partner is in fact an educator.

2) Only teachers have access to the Empatico platform; students will only communicate with their partner classmates under teacher supervision.

3) Students' personal information will only be seen by the partner classroom and the operators of the Empatico website. This may include students' first names, photos and videos of students, and information about where our school is located. Empatico does not (and will never) sell any of your child's information to any third party for any purpose. By using Empatico, your child's classroom expressly consents to Empatico's privacy policy and terms of use.
